Car Dealership that isn’t in the market of selling cars

I submitted an online credit application on Sunday, May 26 and expressed interest in a Camry. Monday, May 27, Turner Corbin contacted me and asked when I would like to come in. I set up an appointment with him for the next morning. I get to the dealership Tuesday morning and Turner is waiting outside for me. He had already taken the liberty and pulled the vehicle around that I looked at online on Sunday, so he took my drivers license and off we went on a test drive. The vehicle was actually a Camry SE, which was my mistake, I thought I was looking at an LE. I told Turner my Auto 2 and my Auto 8 credit score and where I would have liked my payments and he said he was 100% confident that he could make that work, that he has gotten people with a worse credit score in a more expensive vehicle with no down payment. I said, well we can try this one. If it doesn’t work, I would be just as happy going down to a Camry LE or even a different vehicle if it had any good rebates. He said “Perfect” I made myself comfortable as I know the “paper work” and finance part takes the longest. Turner comes back to me and states that I did not get approved and that I needed to call my bank. My current auto loan is through my bank, so, I call them. After being transferred from one department to another, I finally, after half an hour, get to the person I need to speak to. I give her all my verification info and she says to me “Ma’am, I can’t see for how much, but I am showing that Capital One did approve you.” So I walk back into the dealership, with my bank representative waiting on the phone with me and walk up to Turner and tell him what i was just told and that I would like to speak to the finance manager. He walks directly over to the finance room. Turner comes back to me and says “Oh yeah, he said you were approved for $23,000 and the total cost of the car is $2,000 more than that. I asked again if I could speak with him. Finally, what I think is the finance manger comes out with Turner and we three sit down at a table. I introduce myself to him and he reciprocated. I apologize, but I can’t remember his name, he was a shorter bald man. I asked him why we couldn’t make a deal. He said to me because we are too far off. I said Turner said it was only $2000. He said well, it isn’t, it’s more than that. I said well then let’s go down to a Camry LE. He said, I don’t have any. Now, I find it very hard to believe that a TOYOTA car dealership doesn’t have ANY Camry LE’S on the entire lot. He then said, very rudely, that he wouldn’t even sell me a Corolla because he couldn’t make that work either. I wasn’t even in the market for a Corolla, that’s what I was trading in, (a 2 1/2 year old Corolla). I was in the market for a mid size car. I said, so basically there isn’t anything you are going to do for me. He said No there isn’t. I asked Turner if he would please bring my car back around front, which he promptly got up and did. At that point, I said to what I thought was the finance manager, I thought y’all were in the business to sell cars, not flat out refuse to sell a car to a customer. He said we are in the business to sell cars. I said to him, obviously not because you told your salesperson to come back to me and tell me that I wasn’t approved when I was approved. He said you weren’t. I said I was, just not for the amount that you submitted. I said a good finance manager would come back with “Well I can’t get you in this car, let’s see what else I have that I CAN get you in.” He then informs me that he was not even the finance manager, he was the sales manager. At this point, Turner walked up with my keys to which I promptly took from him and left the dealership. In conclusion, I found that Turner was just doing as he was told, my issue is with the other man that come out and spoke to me. I feel as though I was being spoken down to and he was trying to humiliate me, I certainly felt humiliated. I sincerely hope that he was not doing that because I was a woman, as that’s the impression I got. That man was extremely rude, showed no empathy and absolutely no professionalism. What was supposed to be an exciting day for me (purchasing a new vehicle), turned out to be a huge let down and extremely upsetting. I would like to be contacted by either the general manager of the dealership and/or the owner of the dealership.
